A Question...and VIVA Here I Come

I was cleaning up and found this picture in my files. I'm not sure where it came from because I don't own this pattern. If this came from your site, let me know and I'll be happy to credit you.

I think this is one of the BEST pattern envelope illustrations I've seen. The "instant" skirt is pretty cute too. If I could find a copy in my size, I'd definitely snap it up!

Just what exactly is going on here? What are these women holding? Is it a sewing implement of some kind? Any ideas?

I am on my way to Viva Las Vegas.

I hope the weather is nice and the hangovers are few. The hubby will be staying home and holding down the fort so I get a whole weekend to play with my best girl pals. Yay! If you see me in Vegas, please feel free to say hello! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, whatever your plans are!

  2. I think I may have seen that pattern illustration over at dressaday.com awhile back. Aren't those the pattern pieces of the skirt they are holding? Looks like darts and a back vent to me...love it!

  3. It looks to me like they're holding the pattern itself, sideways. Those dotted triangles are the darts at the waist.

    Have fun in Vegas!

  6. It looks like they are holding the skirt pattern (probably cut out of oak tag). See the vent, the darts and the waistband? Anyhow, super cute skirt!

I've got to finagle a trip to Viva one of these years: until then I must live vicariously though the interweb, LOL!

  8. I looks like the pattern for the skirt. See the markings for the darts and the kick pleat. Perhaps you could draft a pattern using that drawing. Have a wonderful trip.

  9. They are holding something with the pattern pieces for the instant skirt pinned to it--demonstrating how simple this thing really is. What a cool idea. Have a great time in Vegas.

  10. They are holding up the sewing pattern. You can see the skirt with darts and the waistband. I really like the pleat. Although I have never sewn one like that, it looks like it would be fun and easy.

  11. How cute, they're holding up the actual skirt pattern on a bulletin board! Perhaps they're doing a sewing demonstration for a class?

  12. Hi Gab. Hope you had a great time in Vegas with the girls.

They are holding a diagram of the skirt pattern. Simple skit with a flap for the back pleat and darts for the waist shaping.

You should be able to adjust the size for yourself. If it's to large just fold it down the center to take in some inches. If it's to small, just cut it down the center an add ???inches .

  13. They're holding the skirt pattern turned on its side.

  14. Oh...as I look at it again I see that the skirt center is placed on the fold, so that's easy enough to add a few inches to. Just move it back from the fold however much you need. Same with the waist band.

  16. Hi! Great Blog!! I love the Kitty curtain idea!
Regarding the slim skirt pattern, they seem to be holding the pattern piece to show just how instant it is from one piece when folded over and along the top it looks like a waistband piece.
I'll be sure to make a habit of visiting your blog!!

  17. Isn't that the skirt back pattern? Looks like it to me.

  18. That thing they're holding looks like the skirt pattern back and waistband to me.

  19. Haha, they're holding up the cutting layout of the skirt to show how easy it is...see the darts and waistband piece on the right? I have a few of these patterns and they really are that "instant". I like your blog btw, very motivational

  20. Oh! I hope your're having a great time in las vegas!
About the envelop, I think that is to put some patterns there, or the mmmm I don't know the word in english, is the shape of your body made of hard paper and you used it to make the patterns, do you understand what I'm talking about? well I guess that's the pourpose of that big envelope...because I use one like that in my sewing classes =)

  21. They are holding the pattern piece up to show how simple it is. The little tab at the top is the kick pleat lining, the top just has sewn in darts and the waistband is there on the right side.

  22. Ahhhh. I thought it was a cutting board or something but I wasn't sure. Now that I know its just the pattern I feel silly. :)
